Divulgada lista de indicados ao Tony Award de 2009

Billy Elliot teve quinze nomeações para a edição de 2009 do Tony, maior prêmio do teatro americano, segundo o site Variety. Os nomes foram anunciados por Cynthia Nixon e Lin-Manuel Miranda na manhã desta terça-feira, na Biblioteca Pública de Artes Performáticas de Nova York, nos EUA.

O musical é, ao lado de Os Produtores, o espetáculos que mais ganhou nomeações para uma edição do Tony. Billy Elliot é seguido por Next to Normal, que tem 11 nomeações, Hair, com oito, Shrek The Musical, também com oito, Mary Stuart, com sete, e The Norman Conquests, sete.

Ele concorre a Melhor Musical, Adaptação de Musical, Originalidades Escritas para o Teatro, entre outros.

O elenco e a equipe do espetáculo também ganharam espaço na premiação. David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik, Kiril Kulish, David Bologna, Gregory Jbara, Haydn Gwynne, Carole Shelley, Ian MacNeil, Nicky Gillibrand, Rick Fisher, Paul Arditti, Stephen Daldry, Peter Darling e Martin Koch são candidatos a prêmios por seu trabalho em Billy Elliot.
